Skincare feels complicated because the internet profits from it feeling complicated. The truth: a beginner needs four products. Everything else is optional until these four are habit.
The only 4 steps that matter
Morning
1. Rinse with lukewarm water (or a gentle cleanser if you're oily).
2. Moisturize — a simple daily moisturizer suited to your skin type.
3. SPF — every single morning. A lightweight facial sunscreen you'll actually wear beats the "best" one you skip.
Evening
1. Cleanse properly — remove the day with that gentle cleanser.
2. Moisturize again. That's it. Done.
The rules nobody tells beginners
- Introduce one product at a time, a week apart. If something irritates you, you'll know exactly what it was.
- Consistency beats products. Four basics used daily outperform twelve serums used randomly.
- Give it 4–6 weeks. Skin renews slowly; judging a product after three days is like judging a book by its cover page.
- SPF is the whole game. The most expensive anti-aging cream on earth does less than daily sunscreen.
When to add more (later, not now)
Once the basics are automatic for a month, then consider one addition: a vitamin C serum in the morning for brightness, or a gentle exfoliant twice a week for texture. One at a time. Always.
Start simple. Stay consistent. Your skin will thank you.
